What is the SAFE Project and what does it do?

The SAFE Project is a local organization that supports survivors of domestic, relationship, and family violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Their work is multi-faceted providing immediate emergency and longer-term assistance, prevention and outreach education programs, legal assistance, as well as support for physical/mental health services. UW TENNIS: ADULT TENNIS INSTRUCTION WITH UW TENNIS COACHES

Sessions are dependent on UW coaches’ availability.

Location: All Sessions below will be held at the UW Indoor Courts, 2717 E. Armory Road

 

ADULT BEGINNER LESSONS

Who:  Drills in small groups for women and men--beginners, advanced beginners, and those returning to tennis.

When: 5:30-7:00 pm, Wednesdays (weekly, in August)

Info: UW coaches will cover forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads, serves, footwork, and basic doubles positioning. Participants will play fun games using techniques learned in sessions. Each class is a good workout!

Details: Wear court shoes that will not leave marks on indoor courts (some loaner shoes are available until you get your own). Bring a racket and water bottle.

Instructors: UW Assistant Coach Maria Oreshkina and UW Assistant Head Coach Julie Gonzalez

Cost: $25.00 per person, per session (maximum of 6 players per instructor)

WEEKLY TENNIS DRILLS

Who: Players, ages 18 and up, are grouped by skill and experience level (instructors will help players determine levels if you have questions).

When:

  • Beginners and Advanced Beginners, Ladies and Men: Wednesdays, 5:30-7:00 pm (max group size  is 6 per available coach)

  • 3.0 Ladies: Monday 8-9:30 am 

  • 4.0 Ladies: Monday 8-9:30 am

  • 3.5 Ladies: Monday 5:30-7:00 pm

  • 3.0/3.5 Men: Tuesday 5:30-7:00 pm

  • 3.5/4.0 Men: Thursday 5:30-7:00 pm

Instructors: Dean Clower, Julie Gonzalez, or Maria Oreshkina

CARDIO TENNIS "HIT TO BE FIT"

Who: Adults ages 18 and Up

When: 8:00-9:00 am, Saturdays

Info: Join us for a fun, high-energy fitness workout combining tennis and cardio movement! Participants need some tennis experience, such as one or more tennis lessons. Each tennis stroke--forehand, backhand, volley and overhead--will be practiced during the workout. Wear tennis/court shoes with non-marking outsoles and bring a water bottle.

Instructors: UW coaches: Julie Gonzalez or Maria Oreshkina

Cost: $15 per person, per session

PRIVATE TENNIS LESSONS

Who:  Adults and youth can arrange private lessons with UW Coaches Dean Clower, Julie Gonzalez, or Maria Oreshkina

Cost: $60 per hour

To Schedule: Text coaches for private lesson instructor, time and date requests. Lessons are dependent on UW coaches’ availability.
